Max being cute

Took another walk to the river this afternoon. Molly wouldn't sit still but Max likes to have his picture taken.

Molly teasing max

Molly is quicker than Max and is always first to get the toy during fetch.

Treat time

Max and Molly love playing in the snow so much we have been having a hard time getting them to come in. I have had to offer then treats to lure them to the gate. This picture is them waiting for their treat.

Squirrel teasing Max

Squirrels love to sit on the fence and taunt Max. you can see the squirrel in the upper left corner of the photo.

Max loves to hunt squirrels.

Max is up on the high point of the back yard scouting the area for squirrels.

Molly's snack shrub

Now that the snow has covered up the grass Molly loves to snack on this bush. We try to keep her from eating the shrub as much as possible.

Max loves to jump

Max loves to play on the agility set but he doesn't have the energy Molly does.

Molly loves to show off on the agility set.

Katahdin Iron Works.

After our hike we went for a drive about fourty miles away to Katahdin Iron Works. Katahdin Iron Works was a working steel mill from the 1800.

Hike

We took the dogs on what we were told was a two mile hike up a small hill. The hike turned out to be more like four miles long. When we got back Max and Molly collapsed for a long nap.

Max got wet with a little reluctance.

Max was a little slower getting into the water. He would walk around but never got into swimming like molly.

Molly over her head for the first time

We went camping at Peaks Kenny State near Dover Foxcroft this weekend. They had a great place for the dogs to learn to swim. This picture is molly over her head for the first time. You can see her surprise in her eyes when she realized she couldn't touch bottom.

Fence

The fence is coming along slow. Hopefully by the end of Memorial day weekend it will be done. This picture was taken weekend before last. We are working on the picket fence between the house and the garage now.

Fence Rock

Spring is here, frost is out of the ground, and we have started the fence for the backyard. We have been planning all winter to put up a fence to give the dogs a place to run. Saturday afternoon we got started and Lynn and I were able to get 4 posts in and 3 sections of 8' long fence up. Sunday morning KT and I got started again and four and a half hours latter with the help of Ben and Chris we had the fifth post in and the 900 pound rock moved out of the way.

Wags and Boston

Boston (left) and Wags (right) were Max and Molly's other two class mates. Boston was the entertainment and Wags was the star pupil.

The three cavaliers.

Last puppy class

Sunday was the last of our puppy classes. During class a "saint-bernard mastiff" mix came to visit, he was just a little bigger than Max and Dusty.

April 15th snow

I went for a walk tonight, just before dark, out on the walking trails behind the high school. I was checking, before the big rain, to make certain the bridges were tied off. We have had trouble with kids cutting and stealing the ropes.

I saw my first rabbit wild in the woods. About 50 yards in the woods he/she was hopping through a stand of pines. The rabbit coloring was starting to go from white to brown.

The picture is from what I call cemetery bridge.

out for a drive

I did not take this picture. We dropped off KT this morning at the airport and then went to NH to look at a project for work. On the way home we drove up Rt 1a through York and came across Nubble Light. Nubble Light is the most picturesque light house we had ever seen. We forgot our camera so I pirated this picture off the net.

Down to the river

We took a walk down to the river a couple of blocks from the house. We are lucky to have the river so close. Last night we saw an eagle float by on floating ice. There was also fifteen to twenty "red breasted mergansers" along the edge of the beach.

April 7, winter doesn't seem to want to leave.

Molly and Max playing tag in the snow

Molly in the snow

We had about 12" of snow last night and this morning. Max and Molly had more than a little difficulty finding their favorite pee spot.

Max and Molly running in a blur

After supper I took max and Molly out to run in the back yard. The sun was setting so the light was not the best but it created a cool effect.

Max and Molly at Popham Beach 3/31/07

We spent about two hours walking Popham Beach today. Great day of a walk! We stopped a couple of times to let Max and Molly rest and let them drink. Our last weeks walk at Popham I think we over did it because the slept almost the entire next day.

Molly on drift wood

Molly is enjoying the view from the top of a piece of drift wood.

Max resting at Popham Beach

After an hour and a half of walking on the beach we stopped for a drink of water and rest. Molly kept moving but Max laid down for a little rest.

Molly pointing Popham Beach

Cavaliers are part sporting dogs. Lynn says that some cavaliers will point to birds just as hunting dogs do. If you look at Molly's tail it is straight out and as she stairs at the seagull across the water on a sand bar.

Bangor

We took the dogs for a ride to Bangor yesterday to look at a job. We left at 10:30 and got home at 5:00. They seem to love to ride, they slept the entire time except for a 20 min walk we took while waiting for a meeting to start.

Popham Fox

About a mile from Popham State there was a fox on the side of the road. We stopped and watch him for about five minuits. He did seem phased at all by the cars stopped watching him. This is link of a quick video we took of the fox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTkcP1vqbS4

The fox looked like it was chasing a mouse.

Max and Molly showing off thier LL bean reflective vests.

Molly and Max at the beach

We had a great time today at Popham Beach. We tried several times to get some good pictures of the dogs and surf, but taking pictures of moving objects on an old digital camera that has a 3 second lag is about impossible. The weather was great, sunny and cool.

Molly

Max

About me

My Wife and I are proud parents of two "Cavalier King Charles Cavalier Spaniels". O ya we also have a 18 year old son and a 19 year old daughter. We are very proud of our two offspring and love them very much. But now the kids are grown and off doing their own thing we have fallen in love with our two dog love bugs.

After our dog Maggie died a few years ago we said we never would own a dog again. We went to Utah last summer and got to spend some time with my Sister's dog Rusty. We enjoyed the visit but I don't think we still really wanted a dog. This fall we mentioned getting a dog a couple of times than after eating out one night we walked into the local pet store and came home with Molly. Then we thought Molly was lonely and we got Max. We are now full fledged dog lovers.
